Ground Tahitian Vanillla

Look at this beauty! I'm such a sucker for beautiful packaging. Found this in the brand new Williams Sonoma store in Chadstone Shopping Centre for $15. Yes, it's not cheap, but it looks gorgeous, and I am curious :-)

So I've never seen grund vanilla bean before, but for that much ground vanilla bean, it must have come from heck of a lot of vanilla pods, no? I asked the store assistant if she know whether its fragrance is as good as the vanilla paste concentrate, which is my current favourite from Costco. Unfortunately she didn't know as she had never used it before. I still have not opened it either so will report when I have. But I can imagine for that price, it should be pretty decent.

The little jar also sits together with about 5 other spice jars on a pretty wooden spice rack, which is also for sale at $18. Sorry I forgot to get a picture. Will do so in my next visit. I would have liked to have the lovely spice rack with these little beauties nestled in them but, for one I've got lovely built in spice cabinets in my kitchen and second, I already had all the other spices on offer.

Will write a post when I start using it to bake something :-)
